Unlike normal web browsers that were created to only view web pages, the OpenWAML viewer was created to view web pages, as well as web applications.

In the same way that your PDF viewer automatically opens up when your computer receives an Acrobat (PDF) file, the OpenWAML viewer activates only when your computer receives a file (WAML) that it understands. The OpenWAML viewer does not replace your existing web browser and it does not interfere with your normal browsing experience.

• A web application viewer enables you to view HTML as well as WAML pages.

Web applications created using the WAML syntax, look and feels like normal desktop applications. WAML files are simple text (XML) based files (unlike technologies such as Flash or Silverlight), and can be generated on-the-fly using almost any web server language (e.g. PHP, Python, ASP.NET, JSP, etc.)

How does it look like?

With WAML, the developer has full control over all the visual aspects of the web application. This includes the menus, toolbars, popup dialogs, etc. A WAML based web application can look like any regular desktop application. This is one of the biggest differences between a normal browser and a web application browser.
